Tender Description
The Department of Health and Aged Care in conjunction with the National Eating Disorder Collaboration (NEDC) have provided funding to selected Primary Health Networks to develop and implement regional eating disorder coordinator positions.
This project will address practical barriers and strengthen enablers for people experiencing eating disorders to access effective evidence-based treatment through primary care providers. Through local planning and activation, the focus will be on making the most effective use of existing resources across the region through partnerships, training and strengthening existing health pathways to care.
The Northern Territory currently does not have a specialised community-based eating disorder program or clinic. There is reluctance from healthcare workers to work with eating disorder presentations due to the lack of a dedicated multidisciplinary team available in the community.
