Ongarue Stream Forest is a mature Pinus Radiata forest on the northern side of the Pureora Forest Park. The property is a freehold property on 288.98ha with a net stocked area of 198.3ha sequestering large volumes of carbon. The block was planted predominantly in 1998 with a smaller stand in 1993. Access to the property is off Ongarue Stream Road, which is north-west of Taumaranui. Throughout the forest are well established 4x4 tracks providing good access around the property.
The surrounding forests and region are renowned for high growth rates. This is evident in the fact there are numerous, large commercial forestry plantations both neighboring and throughout the wider region as well as an extensive logging history. Bordering the southern boundary is Pureora Forest Park, a large, well established native forest with its own logging history.
