Tender Description

The Heazlewoods Hill Reservoir Pump Station, also known as the Trevor Street Booster Pump Station (Maximo Location ID: ULVWP05), currently requires upgrade to deliver adequate fire flow protection and water supply redundancy.

The existing 3-pump pump station is aged and in poor condition, dating from 1986, and currently supplies a small boosted pressure district on the crest of Trevor Street, Ulverstone adjacent to the Heazlewoods Hill Reservoir. This district contains some 41 residential properties above the 65m contour, centred on Laurel Place.

The existing configuration of the pump station is not able to provide automatic fire flow capability at the required standard of 10 l/s.

The existing switchboard does not have an emergency generator connection which would allow the pump station to operate in the event of power loss. There is a history of local residents complaining of "no water" during power outages, and thus the site could benefit from a permanent backup generator connection - if deemed essential by Service Delivery - however the current site switchboard is not able to provide this operational functionality.

There is also no telemetry at the switchboard, with the system relying on the onboard pressure sensors at each pump and no automatic capacity to bring the third pump online to cope with firefighting flows.

The supply system is required to supply low-pressure water to the residences when power is not available and for this supply to be boosted to a minimum of 22m of head when the booster pump is operational.
