Tender Description
The Department for Environment and Water (DEW) is seeking to procure a suitably skilled and experienced civil contractor to deliver construction works for the Teringie wetland complex. The Teringie wetland complex is located 10 km north of the Coorong, on a culturally significant floodplain on the southern shore of Lake Alexandrina. The wetlands are approximately 3 km from the township of Raukkan, a First Nations community.
Work will involve the construction of flow control structures to the northern and southern inlets of the Teringie Wetlands and enhance connectivity between the eastern basins by reinstating water flow path.
The project will provide benefits which include:
- Improved connectivity between Lake Alexandrina and the wetland;
- Improved capacity to regulate water levels
- Reduced invasion from pest species including carp
- Improved cultural values of the significant site and demonstrated partnership approach to working with Aboriginal communities.
