Council receives Garden Organics and Wood Waste at its Cessnock Waste Management Centre (CWMC) from domestic, commercial and Council sources which may include grass clippings, branches, twigs, weeds, untreated timber, pallets, trunks and tree stumps. These Organics are self-hauled by customers, are generally unprocessed and some Organics may be heavy and/or oversized. The Organics are stored in a designated unloading area at CWMC. Approximately 1,400 tonnes of Garden Organics were deposited at the CWMC over the 2022-23 financial year.

The Contractor must attend CWMC as a minimum once per calendar month and collect all Organics received at the CWMC during the period since the last collection and transport the collected Organics to the Organics Transfer Facility. The Contractor must provide all Collection Vehicles and all plant, equipment and labour to remove all visible Contamination, load the Organics and transport them to the Organics Transfer Facility for processing by a third party.

The contract will commence on 1 March 2024 and run for 2.5 years.
