Tender Description
Council has taken possession of 106 and 166 Reserve Creek Rd, South Murwillumbah and will remove all built improvements, and establish the existing site as a continuous tract of land located between Condong Creek and Reserve Creek Rd.
106 and 166 Reserve Creek Road like other nearby dwellings located between the road reserve and Condong Creek were originally constructed approximately in the mid-1920s. At this time land was made available to people in need for the construction of low-cost residential dwellings.
As the original inhabitants move out or pass on, Council will take possession of the land and demolish the old dwellings. The former tenants possessed a licence agreement with Council, referred to as a “life estate”. A “life estate” means that you are able to reside in your dwelling until you are unable to continue living there, or until you choose to live elsewhere. At the expiry of the tenure, there is a requirement to remove all improvements, that is, the house will be demolished so that no further occupation of the dwelling can can take place.
