As-Shipped Laboratory Sampling Facility - Design and Construct Contract

Rio Tinto Iron Ore exports approximately 95 million tons per annum (MTpa) of Saleable Ore Product from its Cape Lambert Port A facility. Recognizing the aging condition of its current As-shipped Sampling facility, the company intends to construct a new and modern automatic sampling laboratory.

The proposed laboratory will feature specialized auto sample preparation cell equipment from FLSmidth (currently in the procurement process and will be provided to the Contractor), housed within a purpose-built steel portal frame and cladded laboratory building. The dimensions of the building are approximately 52 meters in length, 24 meters in width, and 14 meters in height. The project includes the installation of new sampling cutter towers, as well as in-feed and reject conveyors.

The Company has collaborated with Sedgman-Onyx, its engineering service provider, to develop all the required deliverables up to the 'Issued for Tender' stage. It is the responsibility of the Contractor to finalize them to the 'Issue for Construction' stage and deliver a fully commissioned turn-key project.

Shortlisted Contractors invited to participate in the tender process will be compensated for their services, as the Company acknowledges the effort required to prepare a bid of this magnitude.

Interested parties should have strong financial capabilities, with balance sheets indicating the capacity to undertake a project in the range of A$100 million.

The Company will conduct a thorough due diligence process, assessing factors such as health, safety, and environment (HSE) records, previous experience in successful project delivery, financial capability, design management expertise, engagement with traditional owners, sub-contractor management, and commissioning proficiency, among others.

In terms of project timeline, the expectation is that initial pioneering works, including civil and earthworks, will commence on-site in the first quarter of 2024. However, this is contingent upon the issuance of Company Tender deliverables by September 29th, 2023, and the award of the contract before the end of the current year.
