The Shire of Carnarvon is seeking expressions of interest from talented and creative mural artist to contribute to the Youth Precinct Revitalisation Project by creating an engaging and visually appealing artwork at our Skate Park. This project aims to transform the Skate Park into a vibrant and visually appealing space that reflects the spirit and preferences of our local youth.

About this project:

As part of the project, the Shire of Carnarvon conducted a youth consultation session on 15 May 2023 at the Skate Park. During this session, the youth of Carnarvon were given the opportunity to view concept designs, themes, and colour schemes. The concept that received the most votes from the youth is centred around the key theme and art forms:

• Theme: Where the Desert Meets the Sea ‘Gwoonwardu’ – Using the Gascoyne’s outback landscapes and coastal scenery

• Art Form: Graffiti Style Art

The artwork will be on ramps of the skatepark, which is a concrete surface that measures approximately 42 square metres. Whilst the mural is intended to be located on the ramps, it is not essential that the artwork remains confined within the highlighted area. We encourage artists to explore creative possibilities and potentially extend the mural beyond the specified space.

If you are a passionate mural artist with a strong portfolio and experience in creating large-scale artworks, we invite you to express your interest in this project. To be considered, please provide the following information:

• Contact Details: Full name, address, email, and phone number.

• Artist Statement: A brief statement outlining your artistic vision and approach to mural creation.

• Portfolio: Examples of your previous mural artworks or related projects that demonstrate your style, skill, and ability to work with large-scale surfaces.

• Relevant Experience: A summary of your experience working on community-oriented projects or engaging with young audiences. 3

• Proposed Concept: A preliminary outline of your artistic concept for the mural, incorporating the key theme discussed with the youth. Please include a description of the imagery, colour palette, and any additional elements you plan to incorporate.
