Government Contracted Undertakers to Deliver Conveyancing Services and Burial or Cremation Services
Tender ID: 529593
Tender Details
Tender Description
The Department of Justice and Attorney-General (DJAG) is providing this information about the upcoming tender process for potential and interested suppliers to provide conveyancing services and burial or cremation services across Queensland.
Services
It is mandatory that suppliers must be able to deliver both services of:
- Conveyancing Services of Deceased Persons under the Coroners Act 2003 (and)
- Burial or Cremation Services of Deceased Persons under the Burials Assistance Act 1965.
Contracts for each Boundary
The current contracts are expiring on 31 January 2024. The upcoming tenders will release opportunities to deliver services from 1 February 2024 in each Local Government Area (LGA) Boundary. Maps of LGAs can be found at https://www.ecq.qld.gov.au/electoral-boundaries/local-government-area-boundaries.
Invitation to Offer (ITO) Tender Process
Invitations to Offer (ITO) will be tendered in three (3) separate releases over the coming months. The first release will be Central and Western Queensland LGAs, the second release will cover South East and Coastal LGAs, with all other LGAs in the third release.
Suppliers will only need to apply for the LGA Boundaries they are interested in. All LGA Boundaries must have a separate response under each release. This means you may not see your preferred Boundary straight away. Make sure you check the QTenders site regularly for the second and third releases.
Mortuaries
The operational model for Queensland Public Health and Scientific Services (QPHaSS) is under review by Queensland Health and this will impact the conveyancing services that convey a deceased person for coronial autopsy. In particular, the distance and prioritisation of transfers to a nominated mortuary. QPHaSS coronial autopsies are likely to be consolidated to three main hubs located at:
- Brisbane: 39 Kessels Road, Coopers Plains 4108
- Gold Coast University Hospital: 1 Hospital Boulevard, Southport 4215
- Townsville University Hospital: 100 Angus Smith Drive, Douglas 4814
Management of coronial autopsies in other regional locations, including Cairns and Toowoomba, is currently under review by Queensland Health. Queensland Health will advise the outcome to DJAG. This information will be provided to suppliers once known.
