Enhancing Digital Participation amongst Refugee & Migrant Background Youth Project Evaluation, Western Sydney University

⁠⁠⁠The purpose of this evaluation is to show how our research project (see project details: https://www.crisconsortium.org/refugee-migrant-digital-participation) activities and outputs have enhanced understanding of Victorian refugee and migrant youth’s capacities and needs as digital citizens and contributed to the capacities and confidence of stakeholders, including young people, to take action to support digital participation for young people of refugee and migrant backgrounds (YPRMBs).

The evaluation will seek to answer, primarily:

1) To what extent has this project created knowledge about digital participation that is accessible and useful for YPRMBs, their communities and youth-facing organisations?

2) How has this project contributed to new and youth-centred understandings of the digital participation challenges and opportunities for YPRMBs in the domains of employment, education, social & civic connection and wellbeing?

3) Has this research project contributed to any changes for YPRMBs, their communities, and the youth-facing organisations that support them?

4) To what extent has this research project contributed to new approaches to policy and programming initiatives to enhance digital capacity amongst YPRMBs?

5) To what extent has this research project contributed to building adult and youth capacities to take action to enhance digital participation for YPRMBs?

And secondarily:

1) Have our target audiences used any of the project’s outputs in their work? What impact has this had?

2) How has the project impacted our team’s research processes, practices and pedagogy?

We are seeking a brief evaluation report and illustrative case studies showing how the project processes and outputs have influenced capacities, practice and/or contributed to new approaches to policy and programming initiatives.
