The Civic Administration Building represents a significant project for the Toowoomba Regional Council.
Toowoomba Regional Council (Council) provides local government services in support of the community from north of Yarraman to south-west of Millmerran and includes the city of Toowoomba.
The main urban centre of Toowoomba is home to Council’s principal corporate workforce, operating in several Council owned buildings and leased commercial spaces within the Toowoomba central business district (CBD).
Council commenced reviewing its service delivery through the undertaking of a functional brief in 2017 highlighting key scope inclusions for a new Civic Administration Building to unite its CBD workforce.
In 2020, Council resolved to refresh the functional brief in line with contemporary workplace standards alongside some additional considerations for the Civic precinct. The resultant work was the production of a Workplace Strategy and Delivery Considerations Report presenting key costs, staffing considerations, building massing, and town planning requirements.
In January 2023, and after reviewing final inclusions, Council committed to the progression of the Civic Building project to detailed concept design in conjunction with a review of other potential design inclusions.
