Aurukun Shire Council (“ASC”) is seeking a lessee to operate the Wuungkam Lodge accommodation and associated businesses, located in Aurukun, Western Cape York, QLD.

The businesses consist of a number of separate accommodation complexes throughout the town, with a total of 34 rooms – 30 guest rooms, two manager’s rooms and two storage rooms. The facilities are a home away from home for many government departments and are the contractors accommodation of choice when visiting or working in Aurukun.

In addition to the accommodation operations the Wuungkam Lodge also houses a restaurant offering breakfast, lunch and dinner to guests, a small

convenience store, and an ATM that could form part of any lease arrangement.

These operations offer an astute and capable operator an opportunity to enter the accommodation market in Aurukun and is offered on a lease basis with the lease being calculated as a percentage of turnover.

ASC has devoted considerable financial resources in expanding and upgrading its accommodation facilities and made them more attractive. The operation is again on offer after the cessation of the previous operator’s lease.
