Tender ID: 522615
Tender Details
Tender Description
Woollahra Municipal Council is seeking tender for the construction of streetscape upgrade works in Bay Street Double Bay between William Street and the Double Bay Ferry Wharf.
Bay Street in Double Bay serves as a vital link between the Harbour Gateway and Commercial Business Centre. It provides access to a unique and stunning harbour precinct gateway for commuters, tourists, locals, and park and beach users. This gateway arrival point can be accessed by ferry, water taxi, or private boat. The key concept of this project is to upgrade the harbour precinct gateway to create a significant and unique urban space and 'harbour front door' for locals, visitors, members of the school and sailing communities, and other local stakeholders.
The gateway is located at the northern terminus of Bay Street and is flanked by the open spaces of Steyne Park, War Memorial Land foreshore to the west of the wharf, and Double Bay Beach to the east. Although it is a picturesque and leafy arrival point, it has poor visual connectivity to the centre of Double Bay, which is only two blocks south.
The upgrades will improve safety, accessibility, amenity, and connection to the Double Bay Ferry Wharf, beach, and Steyne Park. The works will be delivered simultaneously with Transport for NSW's major upgrade of the Double Bay Ferry Wharf, resulting in a fresh look for the entire precinct by the end of 2023. The upgrades will make walking, cycling, and public transport an easier and more enjoyable way to access the harbour front.
Funded by a grant from the NSW Government's Public Spaces Legacy Program, this project must be completed by December 2023.
