Audit and Risk Committee 2 Independent Members

⁠⁠⁠Mount Barker District Council is inviting applications for the role of independent members of the Council’s Audit and Risk Committee to fill vacancies from April 2023.

In addition to the typical functions of an Audit and Risk Committee, Mount Barker District Council is characterised by two unique circumstances being:
1. Major and rapid growth that sees Mount Barker forecast to become the second largest city (to Adelaide) in South Australia within the next decade; and
2. Council being the largest Local Government provider of wastewater services in South Australia.
The associated implications for Council are significant.
Given the expertise of existing independent members of the Audit and Risk Committee, applications are particularly encouraged from people with knowledge of, and experience in, governance and risk management. Knowledge of wastewater and the delivery of major projects would also be advantageous but is not essential.

A sitting fee (currently $414) is payable to independent members for each Committee meeting/workshop attended/participated in. The Committee meets at least six times per annum. The appointments would be for a term of up to 4 years.
