Tender Description
Department of Communities and Justice, through Youth Justice, is seeking new providers for the Bail Accommodation program throughout NSW. Obtaining access to these services is essential for young people who would otherwise be homeless or remain on avoidable remand. Youth Justice is seeking service providers to provide accommodation for young people referred by NSW Police, or otherwise involved with Youth Justice and unable to return home.
Through the Bail & Accommodation Support Service (BASS), Youth Justice secures placements for young people on a fee-for service basis for up to 28 days, principally through its after-hours assistance to NSW Police. This procurement seeks to broaden the reach of BASS by identifying suitable providers in new areas including Northern NSW, Mid North Coast, New England, Hunter and South West Sydney.
Youth Justice funding is a contribution to the costs of supporting young people experiencing homelessness but does not extend to sustaining standalone services. The Bail & Accommodation Support Service seeks to divert young people from custody by referring them to suitable accommodation providers. Once a young person is placed the BASS team liaises with the provider on a regular basis to assist the young person meet the conditions of their bail, address specific needs, and support their transition either back home or to a longer-term accommodation setting. DCJ has also released another open tender concurrently for a similar project with reference RFX_845 – Youth Justice BASS Project – Youth Justice Accommodation.
The Youth Justice Accommodation program seeks providers in Metropolitan Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong, and the Riverina.
