Tender Description
Hort Innovation is a not-for-profit, grower-owned research and development corporation (RDC) for Australia’s $15.1 billion horticulture industry. Hort Innovation invests around $120 million in research and development (R&D) and marketing programs annually to provide benefit to industry and the wider community.
Hort Innovation is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and capable delivery partner for the project: Rapid diagnostic methods for foodborne pathogens (HN22002).
This project seeks to develop rapid, accurate, sensitive and cost-effective diagnostic testing methods for Shiga-toxin producing serovars of Escherichia coli, pathogenic serovars of Salmonella enterica; and Listeria monocytogenes environmental sampling. These methods should be capable of being performed on-site (farm or packhouse) by horticulture producers using simple and robust equipment and requiring only a minimal level of training.
The project will involve development of rapid diagnostic testing methods in the lab, developing these into prototypes, to be field tested in “real world” settings and eventually commercialised in a way that is useful and wanted by various segments of the Horticulture industry. It is crucial that funding includes resources for industry engagement throughout the process.
Hort Innovation has prepared a Request for Proposal (RFP) document that provides background information, outlines the scope of services, the procurement process and the information required from interested parties.
