Originally opened in 1960, the Bourke War Memorial Olympic Pool commemorates those who served in the various conflicts of war in which Australia has been involved. As a popular community facility, the Complex has in recent year's seen significant funds expended to upgrading the facilities at the Complex.

These upgrades have seen the provision of a splashpark, the redevelopment of the 50m Olympic Pool and associated filtration equipment and improved surrounds and concourse areas (completed in 2021), a new children's pool which incorporates a learn to swim area (to be completed early 2023) and a new entry, administration and kiosk building is to be constructed in the offseason with completion time anticipated for the new 2023/24 swimming season. This high level of expenditure reflects Councils pursuit of it's Vision for Bourke Shire to "continue to grow as an iconic, outback, regional community and destination, which is united and productive, thriving on practical access to all modern services."
To that end Tenders are invited and will be received up until 2.00pm on 23rd March 2023 for the contract management of the Bourke War Memorial Olympic Pool Complex located in Mertin St, Bourke.

The contract comprises the management, maintenance and operation of all
aspects of the pool complex, including the provision of all required labor and
necessary equipment.
Tenderers are invited to tender for either term options that are available:

- Option 1 - For an initial lump sum (1) one year figure with a further (1) one year term available at Councils discretion to be negotiated singularly.
- Option 2 - For an initial lump sum (3) three-year figure with a further (2) two (1) one year terms available at Councils discretion to be negotiated singularly

The contract provides that the contractor is entitled to all admission fees to the
Complex and proceeds from all season ticket sales, also at the Complex.

The Contractor shall also have the sole right to conduct a kiosk at the pool and in doing so, will be entitled to all profits, but liable for all losses in relation thereto.
