Tender Description
The Department of Communities (Communities) requires a Panel of Contractors for the provision of legal advice and to conduct legal claims for children in care or young people who have left care.
Advisory services will be sought to assist Communities Legal unit manage a sizeable portfolio of criminal injuries compensation claims. The Panel will assist Communities fulfil its statutory obligations as well as form an essential part of its strategy to improve access to restorative justice for young people and ensure they receive the compensation they are entitled to, because of harm previously experienced in their lives.
The Panel will also support Communities manage other civil matters on behalf of children, such as, but not limited to personal injury claims, superannuation or tax matters as well entitlements from wills and estates. Ensuring children have access to lawyers, who have specialist expertise to manage these matters is an important consideration in forming the Panel.
