Supply of Feral Animal Control
Tender ID: 518664
Tender Details
Tender Description
The City of Melville ("City") has undertaken an annual feral control program on foxes, cats and rabbits for a number of years. The majority of the feral animals in these programs have been located in and around Ken Hurst Park, Blackwall Reach/Point Walter Reserve and Piney Lakes Reserve, however appear to have lower numbers in recent times. Blue Gum Lake, Booragoon Lake, Bull Creek Wetlands, Quenda Wetlands, and Wireless Hill Park are also infrequently visited; however they will require ongoing monitoring. The City wishes to continue the focus on rabbit, fox and cat control to maintain low numbers, while expanding control to also include pest birds including Corellas.
Invited Quotations are being sought for a suitably qualified and experienced contractor within the field of pest management to undertake an annual, proactive program of feral animal control for three years, with a further two one-year option periods beyond this. This should include regular control and monitoring programs sufficient to provide effective control and reduce the impacts that the feral animals are having on our ecosystems. Pest bird control is to be undertaken on an as needed basis only, when requested by the City.
Applicants shall familiarise themselves with the City of Melville Natural Areas Asset Management Plan (NAAMP) and the Australian Pest Animal Strategy 2017-2027 developed by the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources.
The applicant should be skilled in identification of at-risk native fauna; aware of strategies to minimise risks to native fauna; skilled in the use of traps/trapping; monitoring and be experienced in the bushland environment. The applicant and sub-contractors should be familiar with the City's Disease and Pathogen guidelines and implement hygiene procedures when working within bushland areas.
