Tender ID: 518600
Tender Details
Tender Description
Port Augusta City Council invites tenders from Tenderers for the provision of a Stormwater Management Plan (SMP) for the Port Augusta City Council Area. The Tenderer shall provide the Services in accordance with the Specifications (Project Brief).
A key driver for a new SMP for Port Augusta is Council’s desire to develop a strategic approach to identifying and prioritising stormwater management works. Over recent years Council has noted a rise in instances of flooding within the area, due to increased rainfall and aging or insufficient infrastructure. There has also been an increase in development applications for new subdivisions and larger developments. Council is seeking to develop flood mapping products that will better enable Council, developers and the community to understand their flood risks. Council currently does not have a SMP and wishes to develop a one that incorporates the underground drainage network, impact of the Spencer Gulf and overland flooding. Council is not able to provide flood maps for Port Augusta to service the request from State Government to share this information through the Water Connect Website for access by the general public.
The City of Port Augusta total council area is a total of 1,195km2 however, it is also affected by overland flows from outside its local government area via Sandy Creek, Saltia Creek and Depot Creek, increasing the overall area of interest to approximately 1,570km2. The city itself sits at the top of the Spencer Gulf. The Port Augusta, Port Augusta West, and Stirling North urban areas have a size of approximately 77.5km2. Other areas within the council boundary include the “shack areas” of Commissariat Point and Blanche Harbour, (approximately 5.6km2), Miranda (approximately 8km2) and special interest areas of approximately 5.7km2 outside the built up areas but are likely to be developed.
The Council will enter into an Agreement for these Services with the successful Tenderer.
