Tender Description
The City of Port Lincoln, District Council of Tumby Bay, and Lower Eyre Council, are calling for suitably qualified and experienced Independent Members to join each of their Audit and Risk Committees for a four-year term, including one Independent Chairperson to be appointed for each Committee.
About the Committees
The purpose of an audit and risk committee established by a council is to provide independent assurance and advice to the council on accounting, financial management, internal controls, risk management and governance matters.
The Committees meet at least once in each quarter pursuant to Sections 41 and 126 of the Local Government Act 1999, Local Government (Financial Management) Regulations 2011, Local Government (Procedures at Meetings) Regulations 2013, and the Committee’s Terms of Reference.
Some meetings may be available to be attended electronically.
Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge, & Experience
The members of the committee (when considered as a whole) will have skills, knowledge, and experience relevant to the functions of the committee, including in financial management, risk management and governance. The following qualifications, skills, knowledge, and experience are being sought:
- Tertiary qualifications and/or high-level experience in accounting, business, governance, audit and/or risk management;
- Familiarity with local government structures, operations, and legislation;
- Relevant understanding of regional councils;
- Sound committee meeting skills – experience on audit or similar committee/ board;
- Well-developed interpretive and analytical skills.
