Tender Description
Carpentaria Shire is located on the Gulf of Carpentaria roughly 700km West of Cairns and covers an area of approximately 65,000 square kilometres with its administrative and commercial center located in Normanton.
The Carpentaria Shire Council facilitates multiple remote road construction camps in the shire. These very remote camps typically run during the dry season, March/April to December each year. These camps move multiple times throughout the season. Each camp usually has a staff of six (6) council employees and up to fifteen (15) contractors.
The council is seeking quotations for the supply of satellite internet equipment for the 2023 and 2024 road construction seasons commencing in March 2023 until the 17th of December 2024 or as determined by the Principal.
Please note the Data Services are not required for a period of 3 months usually between 17th December until 17th March dependent on the weather patterns which can be inconsistent and vary from year to year.
The satellite service will service all personnel within each site for both personal and business use as well as being used for communications during emergency situations.
Council is open to both LEO and VSAT services, however bandwidth must be suitable for up to 20 people per site. Data caps are acceptable with rates to be provided as per the Part 6 – response Schedules.
