Subi East former Princess Margaret Hospital Site Public Art EOI Boiler House Smoke Stack

This Expression of Interest calls for multidisciplinary artist teams to respond to a major public art commission to design, supply and install a large-scale artwork on the Boiler House Smoke Stack, located within the former Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) site in Subiaco, Western Australia.

DevelopmentWA has engaged the services of public art consultancy Artify to prepare this Public Art Expression of Interest (EOI). The client and stakeholders are seeking to commission an ambitious large-scale public artwork for the 53 meter tall Boiler House Smoke Stack within the former PMH precinct, as part of the broader Subi East development. This document outlines the project context, curatorial framework information on how to respond to this EOI. We encourage multi-disciplinary teams of local, national or international artists and creatives to respond to this EOI.

Complementing the quality of the architectural design and planning of the former PMH site that includes both existing heritage and new development, this artwork opportunity will provide a unique centrepiece to the area and encourage a sense of connection, exchange and discovery for residents, visitors and the general public. The overarching intention of this document is to provide inspiration for the development of an artwork that will significantly enhance the identity of the site as well more broadly, for the suburb of Subiaco.
