Tender Description

⁠⁠⁠SSROC seeks quotations from suitably qualified contractors of the Sustainable Pavements – Road Construction Materials and Related Services contract in accordance with the Innovation and Benefits Realisation clause, for construction materials and related services for a 12-council crumb rubber asphalt demonstration project. The objectives of the demonstration project are to further improve the sustainability of council roads, reduce net capital and operating expenditures by extending road life, and create a local market for end-of-life car and truck tyres by incorporating crumb rubber in bitumen.

The Australian Flexible Pavement Association (AfPA) has been engaged to develop demonstration asphalt mixes, guidelines, and monitoring parameters based on the expected risks and benefits of crumb rubber in asphalt. The project will explore a range of asphalt mixes incorporating varying levels of crumb rubber derived from end-of-life truck and car tyres. The performance of these in a range of applications and conditions will then be monitored against control sections for an initial 12 months to assess performance benefits.

To accommodate consistent monitoring of demonstration sites, works must be completed between January 2022 and March 2023. (if possible)
