Audit and Risk Committee

⁠⁠⁠Expressions of Interest are sought from suitably qualified and experienced professionals for appointment as an independent member of Council's Audit and Risk Committee.

The Local Government Act 1999 requires that Council appoints an Audit Committee. This Committee is a sub-committee of Council that meets at least four occasions per year. Its function includes the following:
1) monitor and review financial statements of the Council; and
2) review updates to council's Long Term Financial Plan, Strategic Management Plans and Annual Business Plans; and
3) review the adequacy of the accounting, internal financial control, financial reporting and other financial management systems and practices of the Council; and
4) monitoring of Council's risk management programs.

The Committee comprises two (2) Council members and three (3) independent members with relevant skills, knowledge and experience, one of which will carry out the function of Chairperson to the Committee.

We are seeking persons of high caliber with experience in audit practices and a strong financial background relevant to the functions listed above.

Experience with local government financial systems would be advantageous. Both metro and regional based applicants are encouraged to apply. Sitting fees apply.

The appointment is for the term 1st December 2022 to 30th November 2026.
