Tender ID: 507895
Tender Details
Tender Description
As part of Toowoomba Regional Council’s (TRC) core waste management services, kerbside recyclables are collected on a fortnightly basis from residents and businesses throughout the region in the yellow lidded waste bin. Recyclables are subsequently transported to a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in
Brisbane for processing.
In order to fulfil the intentions of Council’s Waste Management Strategy and to better adhere to the circular economy, Council is embarking on a project to construct a MRF to service the greater Toowoomba Region located on site at the Greater Toowoomba Waste Management Facility (GTWMF) on O’Mara Road, Charlton. The Greater Toowoomba Materials Recovery Facility (GTMRF) will consist of a MRF and a Glass Processing Facility (GPF), as well as an office, access road, weighbridge, car parking and outdoor bulk storage area.
The MRF will be configured to separate recyclables into four streams; fibre, plastic, metal and glass. It is expected that the MRF will be able to process approximately four (4) tonnes of recyclables per hour and the GPF will process approximately two (2) tonnes of glass per hour.
In order to successfully deliver this project, Council are seeking to engage a Principal Consultant to coordinate and deliver the design of the GTMRF. This will include design of the MRF, GPF and associated buildings as well as the civil design of the access road, weighbridge foundations and final pad for the GTMRF and a bulk storage area.
