Tender Description
The Shire of Mornington is a local government area in northwest Queensland with Shire Council employees consisting of 93% local indigenous residents. The Duplex Housing with Carports and Two-Plugins are to be constructed for the Shire in the township of Gununa, on Mornington Island. The Shire has a population of approximately 1,150 people, with 86% of residents being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
The construction of dwellings in three different sites in the Township, has been part-funded by the Queensland Government. It is budgeted and scheduled to be completed and handed over to the Council no later than 30 August 2023. The Council has preference to support and engage local contractors or contractors who have experience working on Mornington Island. Alternatively, experience in remote or indigenous communities is also highly desirable.
