Bundaberg Regional Council (Council) operates four (4) Wastewater Treatment plants where biosolids are produced totalling approximately 8,900 tonne/annum. Existing management of biosolids is a mixture of land application performed by Council and contractor.
The management of biosolids from Councils WWTP’s is under review and Council is seeking to engage a contractor to manage the removal and application of biosolids from Rubyanna WWTP and stockpiles in the interim while the long-term strategy is finalised. The interim service is required for 6 months with the possibility of a 6-month extension.
The service is to include all equipment and approvals necessary to:
- collect biosolids at various locations and transport to land application areas. This includes the transport of the full/empty Spirotainers utilised at Rubyanna WWTP to and from the land application areas (Spirotainer is an automated filling Roll-on, Roll-off steel container)
- Apply biosolids to land application areas.
