Tender Description

The Northern Territory Government (NTG) is investing $1.1 billion to improve the current housing in remote Aboriginal communities. This has triggered the need to upgrade the existing headworks infrastructure in these communities to support the additional load imposed by this investment.

Wadeye and Manthathpe are remote Aboriginal communities located approximately 300 km east of Katherine and have populations of approximately 2700 people. The Manthathpe existing water supply system consists of two production bores, a sodium hypochlorite disinfection system, one ground level tank, pressure pump and a reticulation system throughout the community.  PWC are required to vacate the tank compound site and are proposing to supply Manthathpe via a new water transmission main from the Wadeye tank compound.  In conjunction with this project a new ground tank is to be constructed within the Wadeye tank compound.  PWC are also considering the continued use of the Manthathpe production bore [RN037534] via the construction of a new bore rising main to connect into the existing Wadeye rising main.

The Wadeye and Manthathpe Community have significant growth expected to be contributed by the Remote Housing Program.  As there is requirement to vacate the current Manthathpe tank compound, a new ground water storage tank is required to allow Indigenous Essential Services (IES) to support continual growth of these communities.  As such, PWC proposes to engage a competent Principal Contractor to supply and install a new water transmission main, a new bore rising main and a new ground level tank and associated infrastructure within the existing Wadeye tank compound.
