SAPOL is seeking to engage a single supplier to provide nursing services in SAPOL custodial facilities (The Program).
The Program encompasses nursing assessment and treatment of detainees in a watch house to remove the need to transport detainees for treatment in an emergency department setting. The Program is designed to deliver efficiencies for both SA Health and SAPOL through freeing up resources for both emergency departments and SAPOL front line operations.
The Program is also to provide for the treatment of injured SAPOL police officers, conducting of forensic procedures on suspects including intrusive forensic procedures and undertaking of COVID-19 testing using PCR and RAT as well as COVID-19 infection control.
The Program is to be delivered from Adelaide (CBD), Elizabeth, Port Adelaide, Christies Beach and Port Augusta Watch House locations with the possibility of extending the services to other regional facilities.
The supplier will have clinical governance procedures in place that meet and model the National Model Clinical Governance Framework based on the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS) to ensure accountability and support the delivery of safe and high quality care for patients.
The successful supplier is to have the capability and capacity to deliver the contracted services from the required locations to treat patients (detainees and police officers) for any of the following as needed:
General nursing care for detainees and officers
Fit for custody assessment
COVID 19 infection control
Undertake Forensic Medical Procedures
Collection of blood samples from offenders and police in the event of suspected blood borne virus exposure.
The Supplier is to provide the required services in accordance with the Specification.
