Bridge Street quarry is currently an unused hard rock quarry that ceased operations in 1994. The site has been identified as a future tourism landmark with potential for both public and private investment. Council is seeking to undertake the rehabilitation of the former quarry to make the site safe and prepare it for future development and use as a public facility. Rehabilitation of the site and transformation into a greenspace will enhance community health and safety while promoting active and healthy community outcomes in line with Council’s corporate plan. There is also potential for adventure/ecotourism, food, and accommodation facilities within the site that would deliver an income stream for Council.
