Street Sweeping Services

⁠⁠⁠The City of Yarra currently provides street cleaning services via a mix of contract and in-house services.  The street sweeping component is currently contracted out for shopping strips, main roads, roads, footpaths, and laneway sweeping.

The current contract expires 30 June 2023.

 The cycle time of four weeks for residential street sweeping has generally proven adequate for streets where clear access to the kerb and channel can be achieved and the street is swept thoroughly.  However, there are a number of streets requiring higher sweeping frequency due to street configuration, infrastructure condition, parking demand, street trees, or other obstructions. Schedule items have therefore been added to allow Council the opportunity to adopt increased frequency of cleansing in those nominated streets, subject to budget constraints.
