Rotorua Museum Exhibition Development
Tender ID: 499699
Tender Details
Tender Description
Rotorua Lakes Council (RLC) are seeking to undertake a comprehensive redevelopment of the Museum exhibitions and visitor experiences, including all its medium and long-term exhibitions. There is approximately 1,400sqm of exhibition space, over three levels, to be developed within the constraints of the heritage architecture.
This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to work alongside the Rotorua Museum project team and our community to create memorable exhibitions that share the unique and significant stories of Rotorua and the rohe of Te Arawa.
The exhibitions will attract more than 100,000 visitors each year and will celebrate the rich stories of our place and people. They will delight, move and educate our community and visitors to Rotorua, and will be delivered authentically in our community/iwi voice. These stories will be determined based on feedback from our community and iwi together with the project team, and will be linked by a core theme and common design elements across all spaces.
We do not want a traditional museum experience with books on walls. Nor do we want a pure turn-key exhibition development designed from book research. We want the successful full-service company/consortium to co-curate with our project team to deliver engaging exhibitions that are of, by and for our community.
