The department seeks an experienced Data Analyst / Data Scientist to assist the buyer’s team responsible for providing evidence-based reporting for the VSL program. The Section is responsible for developing self-service reports, extracting both ad-hoc and regular requests.

In additional, the team provides analytical reports targeting areas for investigation or concern using a variety of analytical tools.

The specified personnel will have:

• outstanding analytical problem-solving skills to curate the data required to inform high quality and timely written advice, briefings, and other material for a range of audiences
• deep technical expertise in excel and data cubes, and programming skills in languages including SQL, SAS, R or Python.
• experience using data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Qlik or R packages to present complex data in simple ways
• excellent written and verbal communication skills that enable them to deliver clear and concise messages that are fit for purpose and the audience, including participating and presenting in project work
• the ability to respond flexibly to changing priorities in a dynamic work environment and deliver high quality results.
• a track record of developing and maintaining productive and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• formal qualifications, accreditation or training in information technology, including user centred design, are highly desirable, or a minimum 3-5 years experience working on similar IT projects that can demonstrate your highly developed skills and suitability for the role.
• Experience with the VET Student Payment Systems (VPAYS) is highly desirable
