Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities is charged with being a world class public housing landlord and leading integrated urban development. Kāinga Ora will partner with developers, councils, iwi/rōpū Māori, government agencies, local communities, and others to enable, facilitate and deliver urban development projects of all sizes. These projects will provide people with good quality, public, affordable and market homes that connect to the jobs, transport, open spaces and facilities needed for communities to thrive. Kāinga Ora will also play an essential role in tackling the Government’s priorities of ending homelessness and making homes in New Zealand more affordable.

The Opportunity
Against a backdrop of intense nationwide demand for more quality public and market housing, delivering well-designed and built homes at a faster rate for people and communities requires us to think differently.
Transforming construction through innovation; our offsite manufacturing plan, sets out the action Kāinga Ora is taking to realise the benefits of offsite manufacturing (OSM), how it can contribute to building homes more effectively, affordably and sustainably, and how we can help grow the capability and capacity of the New Zealand OSM sector.
To help support this the Kāinga Ora (OSM) programme is looking to deliver a total of circa 550-600 OSM units to be delivered, installed and made ready for occupation within an 18-24-month period across Te Ika-a-Māui (the North Island).
