DESE is leading the development of a new vocational education and training (VET) data collection and reporting system. The VET Data Streamlining (VDS) program will transform the national VET data system to increase the timeliness and quality of data collection and use. DESE is working with partner state and territory governments and the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) to deliver this initiative through several strands of work over the next few years. It is a large and complex program in terms of the stakeholders involved and change required across the sector.

We are looking for a Portfolio Program Manager to work with senior leaders and project teams across the program to plan, manage and deliver the program. This includes a strong focus on aligning plans through negotiation and collaboration with stakeholders across the sector and state and territory jurisdictions.

Reporting to the Senior Business Owner, the Portfolio Program Manager will oversee the program management function, which includes the following core functions:

• Program planning and scheduling
• Quality, risks, and issues
• Business analysis
• Program status reporting

The program is structured with the following work streams:

• Program management
• Policy and legislation
• Data design and development
• System delivery
• Change and engagement

All of the workstreams require significant engagement and input from internal and external stakeholders to deliver their elements of the program. The Portfolio Program Manager should have the ability to lead this group and ensure an integrated approach is being taken to the planning, management and delivery of the program.
