Essential experience required:

• At least 5 years in a data analyst position, preferably working as a Data Analyst in a fast-paced and dynamic business setting.
• Must have industry experience in data analysis using R, Python, SAS, including SQL/PL SQL and other database management tools.
• Must be proficient in using cloud-based tools, MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, which are all necessary for the creation of visually and verbally engaging reports, for the various assigned departmental heads, management, and stakeholders. The Senior Data Analyst will also demonstrate skills in SQL server reporting services, Salesforce, analysis services, Tableau, or any other data visualization tools.
• Must be proficient in working with Big Data tools such as Hadoop, Pig, Hive, Apache Spark, MapReduce, NoSQL and other similar tools.
• Experience processing unstructured data in XML/JSON
• Experience working in report creation, modeling, and trend forecasting. A suitable candidate will have a strong background in SQL as well as experience performing administrative tasks on servers such as SQL.
• Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills with the ability to problem solve & to provide business content to data results.
• A deep interest in research and data analysis, drawing actionable insights form raw data and information to help further the business’s cause.
• Strongly skilled in statistical and econometric modeling, performing quantitative analysis, and technological data mining and analysis techniques.
• Critical thinking to uncover and synthesize connections that are not always so clear. 
• Experience using data and insights to shape strategy and improve customer experience.
• Sound knowledge of data management and visualization techniques to tell a compelling story
• A knack for statistical analysis and predictive modelling

• Draw reports for the executives, management, and key stakeholders. These reports have to be clear, convincing, informative, engaging, unambiguous, and uniquely tailored to suit different audiences.

Purpose of the role:

• The Senior Data Analyst provides credentialed data expertise and technical analysis support to innovate, build, and maintain well-managed data solutions and capabilities to solve business problems.
• This senior analyst takes ownership of the Agency’s data analytics, more specifically related to the research and public health use of My Health Record data analytic infrastructure project. Their work will empower the project team and guide business decisions.
• This position also entails providing support in the creation of detailed analytical models by providing expert opinion related to the integration and processing of data relevant to the Agency supporting the data-driven decision-making process across the organisation.
• The Senior Data Analyst will have to handle multiple simultaneous tasks, prioritize work, and remain functional under pressure, and short timelines

Key Accountabilities:

The responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

• Utilize programmatic and quantitative methods to identify patterns and relationships in large data sets, as well as apply mathematical, statistical, and other data-driven analysis to address intelligence questions.
• Perform quantitative analysis of complex business situations, such as strategies, performance, and solutions involving system performance and efficiency.
• Conduct detailed data analysis on data used across business units to evaluate business processes, discrepant data scenarios and improve on/create new feature.
• Apply advanced computer modelling, database tools and/or other approaches in conducting the analysis.
• Provide data solutions, tools, and capabilities to enable self-service frameworks for data consumers.
• Respond to data and product related inquiries in real-time to support business and technical teams
• Perform various data analytics in R, Python, SAS including SQL/PL SQL and MS Excel using statistical models or industry accepted tools
• Provide relational database expertise to construct and execute SQL queries to be used in data analysis activities
• Provide expertise and translate the business needs to design; and develop tools, techniques, and metrics, and dashboards for insights and data visualization
• Develop and executing tools to monitor and report on data quality
• Establish appreciation and adherence to the principles of data quality management, including metadata, lineage, and business definitions
• Provide support to Tech teams in managing security mechanisms and data access governance.
• Develop business solutions through the constant modification of the existing business intelligence solutions.
• Design, code, debug, test, document, and support server based applications such as SQL consistent with established business requirements and specifications i
