Creative and cultural organisations are welcome to apply for a subsidised 5-year lease for suite 2 of the Ultimo Community Centre, 40 William Henry Street (525 Harris Street) Ultimo.
Located on the ground floor, the space features a kitchenette and measures approximately 202.5m².
The Ultimo Community Centre is the hub of the local community. It includes an indoor multipurpose sports court, an indoor multipurpose hall, 2 outdoor multipurpose courts, ping pong tables and courtyard, as well as a library, arts and crafts room, childcare and meeting rooms.
Timeline
These dates may change:
- Applications open: Monday 28 March 2022
- Applications close: Monday 2 May 2022
- Grants approved and all applicants notified: Tuesday 23 August 2022
- Lease begins: Monday 10 October 2022.
How the space can be used
You may choose to be the lead tenant and sublet the space at affordable rates to other creative or cultural practitioners. Or you may choose to use the space for one creative or cultural organisation.

Cost
You could potentially rent this space for free. You can apply for a 100% rental subsidy for a five-year lease term.
There’ll be some associated costs, such as bond, waste collection and electricity fees. There’s more information about this in the application guide .
Eligibility
We’re looking for people who:
- show how their work, or proposed work, benefits residents, workers and visitors to the City of Sydney’s area
- show how payment of commercial rent would cause financial hardship and prevent beneficial services being provided.
Not-for-profit and for-profit entities are welcome to apply.
Ideal applicants will show how:
- operating the space provides affordable space, benefits artists, and contributes to the creative sector in Sydney
- they will maximise use of the property
- they will support artists with disability
- they will support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and creative practitioners
- they will support artists or creative practitioners who are culturally and linguistically diverse.
