Tender Description
Queensland Rail has a long-term strategy to replace all timber bridging throughout the network with concrete and/or steel bridges or culverts which are to be designed to require minimal maintenance, be resistant to fire or insects and where relevant, be flood resilient. Replacement of timber bridges on the North Coast Line (NCL) commenced in the 1960s as the original structures reached their end of service lives. The majority of bridges have now been replaced however there are three (3) bridges located at Berajondo north of Bundaberg which require replacement.
This tender aims to establish a Major Works Contract with a suitably capable and experienced Contractor for the Berajondo bridge replacement works ensuring high quality service, achieved deadlines and value for money.
The tender is for “Construct Only” works; detailed design for the new bridges have been completed.
The Principal Contractor will be responsible for:
- Providing track protection services.
- Demolition and removal of existing timber bridges.
- Construction of new purpose designed concrete deck bridges which have been designed to have a 300A load capacity and will be generally to the same horizontal and similar vertical alignment as the existing timber structures.
- Removal and reinstate the track with speed restriction of 15 km/h.
- All associated track works, i.e. welding
- OHLE works including
- Construction of seven OHLE mast foundations to rail level
- Removal of existing OHLE mast foundations as required
- Enabling and temporary works as required
- Completion of red-line markup drawings with RPEQ sign-off reports.
The following works are identified as out-of-scope for the Principal Contractor:
- Track tamping works.
- Electrical isolation and energisation (this will be conducted by Queensland Rail).
- Permanent corridor fencing.
- Permanent works outside the rail corridor.
To be considered for this activity the Principal Contractor must be classified as a Category 1 Contractor prequalified on the Queensland Rail Contractor Safety and Environmental Management (CSEM) register as well as holding current Safely Access the Rail Corridor (SARC), Working in Electrified Territory (WET) and Rail Industry Worker (RIW) certification.
Queensland Rail will be conducting a tender information session to outline specific requirements and expected project outcomes.
The information session will take place virtually via Microsoft Teams at 11:30am AEST Friday, 11 March 2022.
Queensland Rail will also be conducting a mandatory site inspection within the week of 21-25 March 2022, this will commence from Queensland Rail North Bundaberg Trackside Depot.
Details on how to register for both the information session and site visit will be contained within the tender Preamble document which will be released within the tender package on 8 March 2022.
