Port Beach in Fremantle, Western Australia has undergone a sustained period of retreat over the last approximately 30 years. In recent years, severe erosion events have resulted in damage to infrastructure.
This tender seeks offers to address the erosion of Port Beach and adjacent dune areas as described in the Scope of Works.
A Port Beach Project Working Team (PWT) is overseeing this project. The PWT is comprised of members from the City of Fremantle (CoF), Fremantle Ports (FP) and Department of Transport (DoT). The PWT was established in recognition of the shared responsibility for protection of assets.
For clarity, this tender is being released and administered by Fremantle Ports, with assessment of offers by the PWT.
The project was submitted to the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) for environmental approval in late 2021. The project is presently under review by DWER. A decision regarding environmental approval is expected to be received during March/April 2022.
Dredging and nourishment works are intended to be completed as soon as possible following environmental approval.
