Planting our Place: Restoration Plant Supply and Planting Services Contract
Tender ID: 485606
Tender Details
Tender Description
Planting our Place is a new initiative that aims to plant at least 10% of New Plymouth District in native greenery and to plant many native trees to meet our carbon off setting (sequestration) goals as part of the Council's commitment to climate action. Planting trees and native plants will improve our natural environment, create a more sustainable future for our district and support the native wildlife as well as creating a green legacy for future generations.
Planting our Place is a core component of the Councils' recently adopted Climate Action Framework. The overall vision for the project is to "Improve biodiversity, carbon sequestration and allow for community participation in NPDC's response to climate change by delivering revegetation to council-owned reserves through tree planting."
We are also seeking interest from groups and organisations who can manage planting programs from site preparation to planting events to ongoing maintenance of newly planted sites and also those who can provide delivery within their local community. We are also looking for native and eco-sourced plant suppliers. There is potentially 10 years of work in this programme for approved suppliers. The Council will provide leadership and co-ordination at a district wide level. We expect selected suppliers to be willing to collaborate and work with other suppliers that may be involved at the same sites, at times.
