Auckland Council is looking for a possum monitoring contractor to provide primarily Residual Trap Catch (RTC) monitoring, but with an ability to undertake Bite Mark Index (BMI) or Chew Card Index (CCI) where required. This work is to provide either a post control relative abundance performance measure for possum control contracts that have been undertaken, or to provide a pre-control relative abundance measure to inform control contractors how to price upcoming work, with the former being the main component of this contract.
The areas to monitor range in size from 900 hectares to 17,000 hectares, but average around 4000-8000 hectares in size, with between 30,000 and 85,000 hectares required to be monitored each year.
The land monitoring is required to be undertaken on is a both private and public land (Regional Parkland or Department of Conservation land) and is predominately in rural areas and primarily covered in native forest.
The contract is for an initial 1-year term, contract renewals allow for total 4-year term
