Upskilling the Interpreter Workforce in Palliative Care

⁠⁠⁠Brisbane South PHN has recently completed a review of palliative care priorities and identified upskilling the interpreter workforce as a focus area to progress. As part of this process, interpreter use in palliative care was examined through a literature review and local stakeholders were also consulted. All sources highlighted that interpreters are important but not always used. This activity aims to enhance the delivery of effective, high quality palliative care for people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Brisbane South PHN is seeking a Provider/s that can deliver a flexible, innovative and adaptive program to support the upskilling of interpreters in palliative care. A provider/s that is adept at delivering culturally safe and inclusive practices for people of non- English speaking backgrounds is important. The provider will be required to work collaboratively with other services to support their engagement with the interpreter workforce and extension of work within a palliative care setting or services.
