Tender Description
This project involves the installation of a new water main of approximately 357m of DN150 OPVC along Hughes Terrace from Graham Street to the on ramp of the Bruce Hwy in Gympie. A recent water main assessment identified the existing main as consisting of DN100 unlined cast iron pipe in excess of 80 years old with external corrosion and considerable internal tuberculation. Internal ferrous corrosion (tuberculation) causes the build-up of residue and a reduced hydraulic diameter, resulting in additional friction losses in the mains. These losses have resulted in residual pressure falling below those specified in Council’s service standards.
Council is now inviting tenders for the construction of this new pipeline from suitably qualified respondents with previous experience with working alongside busy roads and who can coordinate the works of their own specialist subcontractors.
A detailed design has been provided by Council and the works will be carried out under the AS2124 – 1992
