Tender Description

⁠⁠⁠Port Augusta City Council invites tenders from Tenderers for the provision of Repairs to Boardwalk located at the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden. The Council will enter into a Minor Works Agreement with the successful Tenderer.

The Port Augusta City Council has had a structural inspection completed of the Boardwalk at the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden, 144 Stuart Hwy, Port Augusta West.

Findings from the report at as below:

  • Splitting timber rails and beams
  • Differential spacing between boardwalk planks
  • Corroded, loose and missing fixings to planks of boardwalk
  • Differential level of planks of boardwalk
  • Dislodged timber bearers, cross bracing members and rails
  • Splitting and dislodgement of timber planks
  • Timber support posts in good condition
  • Balustrade not complying to the National Construction Code due to height off the ground being greater than 1.0m from ground level and being climbable.

The scope of works covered under the Request for Tender are to be undertaken with a view to extending the useful life of the exiting boardwalk. Works identified to be completed with the condition report are included within the specifications of this Request for Tender.

On-site works are to be completed by 6 June 2022.

Tenderers are to note that although Tenderers may submit a price within the Tender Response Schedule – Pricing, for Contract Works Insurance for this particular project, Council reserves the right to obtain its own quotation for such insurance and may or may not accept that as provided by the Tenderer.

By completing and submitting a response to the Request for Tender, the Contractor is acknowledging and agreeing that the Principal engages the Contractor under this Contract as a principal contractor for the purposes of the Work Health and Safety Regulations 2012 SA (WHS Regulations) until the final certificate is issued, and the Principal authorises the Contractor to have management and/or control of the site and to discharge the duties of a principal contractor. The Contractor further acknowledges and agrees that the Principal has given the Contractor all information required under the WHS Regulations to allow the Contractor to discharge its duties as the principal contractor. 

A briefing session will be held at 144 Stuart Highway, Port Augusta, SA, Australia, 5700 on 11:00 AM 2 February 2022.
Notes: Registrations are required by COB Monday 31 January 2022.A site map of the board walk carpark will be provided upon individual registration of attendance.
A site visit is a pre-requisite to submission and consideration of a bid.
