Lithgow Council /EPA Bushfire generated Tree Waste Program
Tender ID: 481790
Tender Details
Tender Description
In 2020 the Lithgow LGA was hit with devastating bushfires which spread across the LGA and impacted a wide section of both built and natural environments. A primary clean-up took place which removed some of the damaged trees and hazardous materials that posed a immediate risk to life and property.
A grant has been received from the EPA for the clean-up of private and public lands for the remainder of the damaged vegetation which spreads from Dargan in the east to Running Springs in the west. The damaged vegetation to be removed is in various states from piles of dead wood to standing trees (dead and alive) on private properties, natural areas and road reserves. There are some piles of rolled up wire fencing which will be required to be taken to a waste facility (no charge at the waste facility) as part of the work.
The work involved is the removal of the vegetation from each site, process the timber and taking the waste material to an appropriate facility, preferably for reuse as mulch, compost or other material. All costs for these tasks are to be costed in the responses with no residual waste left on site. Should the residents of a private property request the timber to be left on site a signed document will be required to be obtained by the relevant contractor, the timber then comes to be the responsibility of the resident with the timber left on private property. Private property owners have been notified concerning the removal of the waste timber and associated material. The ideal result is the removal of all timber waste, timber processed and sent to a reuse facility with no residual waste for council/contractor to clean-up. The timber has been identified has come from different types of trees (pines, eucalypts etc)
The total timber is approximately 8500 tonnes of timber spread over the LGA. The Tender will be split into 4 areas for suppliers to quote on each area or the option to quote for all the work in all 4 areas as 1 package. The successful tenderer/s will be the best value package to complete the full set of works, whether 1 or multiple contractors. The tender will also ask for a schedule of rates that may be used for works outside of this tender package in council maintenance works (prices supplied will be used in comparison to current arbour works schedule of rates when work is being assigned).
The costs of traffic control as required for this work will be at the cost to the successful contractor.
There will be 2 documents supplied:
1. A spread sheet of the locations, location details, timber status, approximate tonnage etc.
2. Photos of most locations and timber makeup
A compulsory pre tender meeting will be held next to the grandstand at Tony Luchetti Sports Ground, George Coates Street, Lithgow, at 10.30am on Tuesday 25th January, 2022.
