The purpose of Procurement at Sydney Water is to get the goods, services and facilities it needs, when it needs them and for the right cost. Procurement is a key enabler and contributor to the success of our strategic objectives and fulfilling our vision to create a better life through world-class water services. As our customers reply on us for reliable, high quality services at affordable prices, we partner with an extensive range of suppliers to help us create thriving, liveable and sustainable cities. It’s crucial that we undertake procurement activities ethically and equitably to ensure that the best commercial outcomes are achieved in line with our organisational values and statutory obligations.

Sydney Water is planning to issue a tender for the provision of services for ABN registered businesses to respond to.

This project utilises IoT devices to detect blockages in wastewater pipes before they lead to wastewater discharge into the environment.

Wastewater overflows from access chambers (manholes) into the environment are a public health risk, can cause customer inconvenience, impact sensitive waterways and bushland and incur massive clean-up costs, fines and reputational damage. We have been successfully deploying IoT devices to monitor sewer levels in access chambers across our wastewater collection network. Due to the success of the project Sydney Water is engaging the market for assessment, field testing and shortlisting of the next stage of the project. This stage includes the monitoring of 22,666 access chambers to be installed at environmentally high-risk sites over 2 years.

We are looking for suppliers who have the following capabilities:

•A field-based workforce who can install a maximum of 1000 devices per month whilst adhering to quality & safety requirements
•Recent relatable experience delivering large scale deployment projects in a water/energy/communications utility environment

Assembly and staging services for the IOT devices to be offered as a separate option.

The RFT Preview document lists requirements for this project.
