Electrical Upgrade and Asbestos Removal Queensland Offshore Marine Aids to Navigation
Tender ID: 480553
Tender Details
Tender Description
A review of the AMSA asbestos register has identified four remaining offshore aid to navigation (AtoN) sites within QLD that have asbestos containing material confirmed on the AtoN structures. These sites include:
-Pith Reef
-Piper Island
-Waterwitch Reef
-Wyborn Reef
The asbestos at these sites is in the form of cement sheet flooring for the fibreglass equipment huts. To remove the asbestos cement sheet the hut and power supply equipment within must first be removed. The fibreglass huts are prone to damage during cyclones and as such AMSA now proposes to replace the fibreglass huts with stainless steel enclosures and undertake and electrical upgrade of the solar power supply.
In addition to above four sites AMSAs Wharton Reef site is scheduled for the incandescent light to be upgraded to an LED. As part of this upgrade the existing fibreglass hut at this site is proposed to be replaced with a stainless steel enclosure and undertake an electrical upgrade of the solar power supply.
-In addition to above some minor improvements are proposed for the accessways to improve safety for personnel accessing the sites.
