Call for Tenders for GHG Exploration Permits

⁠⁠⁠The Queensland Government has released four prospective greenhouse gas (GHG) storage exploration areas totalling approximately 14,500 km2 (4,757 sub-blocks) via competitive tender for GHG storage exploration in Queensland’s Surat-Bowen, Galilee and Eromanga basins.

A preferred tenderer must meet environmental, native title and other approval requirements before a GHG exploration permit (EPQ) may be granted for a term of six years under the Greenhouse Gas Storage Act 2009 (GHG Act). Following grant, the EPQ holder will also need to complete land access and potentially other approval requirements before commencing on-ground exploration.
