The Environmental-Economic Accounts Section is seeking a spatial and data analyst to develop environmental-economic account products for end user applications.
The role will include:
• Data brokering and acquisition, including facilitating access, licensing and agreements where required
• Data transformation and integration to meet specified statistical geographies, including the spatial enablement of non-spatial data
• Spatial and data analysis to create and interpret environmental-economic accounts, including cross-tabulations, combined presentations with ancillary indicators, data visualisations and spatial maps
• Other spatial and data interpretation formats to facilitate documentation, reporting and communication with the Environmental-Economic Accounts Section, associated reporting lines and end users
• Data storage and life cycle management according to best practice and departmental policy, including the development of metadata and methods statement.
The environmental-economic account applications will build on existing collaborations associated with the National Land Account and ecosystem account case studies. Focusing on applying an existing account to a specific end user need, or creating a new series of account tables to fill the knowledge gap. It is envisaged that 2-4 applications will be developed as a series of 3-month sprints. The first 2 applications have been/are being scoped. With the final 2 applications to be determined.
• Regional application of the National Land Account within the Murray Darling Basin, including combined presentation with selected economic, environmental and socio-cultural indicators
• State/regional application of the National Land Account within NSW, potentially including links to species, habitat, biodiversity, soils, vegetation cover, forestry and agriculture
• Departmental application(s) of EEA for activities scoped in recent ecosystem account consultations.

The role is located in Canberra ACT, however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
